Soak in the Summer Savings – How to Have Fun for Less! Tips and Tricks from the Boss Herself
Great news, summer is finally here! Although this summer still looks different from most, that doesn’t mean you’ll have to spend lots of money on summer getaways to have a good time. There are many ways to have fun in the summer sun for less. In fact, here’s 7 ways that you can have fun without leaving your city!
1. Go for a Walk or Bike Ride
What better way to spend time in the sun than spending time in nature? You can walk around your neighborhood parks or find a popular bike path in your town. If you want to avoid the summer heat, opt for an early morning walk or start right before sunset.
2. Movie Night in the Backyard
Nothing says summer like hanging out in your backyard! Why overpay for popcorn just to be stuck inside a dark theater when you can enjoy your favorite movies and shows under the night sky! Remember to bring some of your favorite snacks and candies as well!
Bonus tip: if you want to save extra money, visit the dollar store or look up your local grocery store’s weekly specials.
3. Camping in the Backyard
Need another stay-at-home idea? Turn your backyard into the ultimate campground. Grab sleeping bags, blankets and some lawn chairs. Grab your favorite outdoor games, start up the fire and make s’mores with your kids.
4. Beat the Heat at Home
Is your local pool still closed? No worries you can still beat the summer heat at home without building a pool. Head down to your local store to buy water balloons and cheap water guns and have a water fight!
Feeling more adventurous? Grab garbage bags, slip soap and a garden hose to make your very own slip and slide!
5. Facetime an Old Friend for a Virtual Happy Hour
Make yourself a drink, bring your charger, and reconnect with old friends with a virtual happy hour. Get lost in conversation by sharing old memories, catching up, and planning future visits with those you’ve lost touch with. It’s never too late to rekindle great friendships!
6. Show off your Artistic Side and do a Paint Night
Do you have a knack for painting or want to explore your artistic side? Kick back and relax with a paint night with your significant other or friends. This a great way to relax and channel your artistic abilities. Have kids that want to join? Get them a finger-painting kit and a blank canvas so everyone can join in on the fun!
7. Make Desserts at Home
Let’s face it, everybody loves desserts. But there’s no need to spend tons of money visiting that expensive Italian restaurant that you’ve been to a million times. Why not bring the fun home and spend an evening making desserts with your kids, significant other, or friends.
If you want a challenge: you can even attempt to do this blindfolded or compete against each other to make the best dessert. Loser does the dishes!
These are just a few ideas, but remember there are plenty of ways to enjoy summer on a budget! Did you try any of these out? Let us know how it went!
